Freeing My Wild
After just graduating university with a degree in Forestry and Wildlife, I started supervising a greenhouse.
It should’ve been a dream first job, but honestly it felt more like a nightmare.
There were definitely some good times, but overall I knew something wasn’t right.
Many migraines and meltdowns later, I felt myself slipping away and I had to quit less than two years after starting.
I felt like such a failure and like I just wasn’t cut out for society. I wouldn’t ever be able to work a “normal” job again.
That meant I would have to work for myself somehow, but I didn’t have a clear vision on how that would look.
With a late-in-life diagnosis of neurodivergence, my lifelong struggles and my little superpowers finally became clear.
This discovery helped me learn and affirm that I am me and not only is that okay, but it’s beautiful and unique and amazing - it allowed me to fall back in love with myself.
Now I am getting to know myself more intimately than ever by continuously deepening my connection with nature.
I want to share with you the peace, magic, joy, inspiration, awe… and every other positive feeling that a connection with nature can bring.
Wild Iris is where my work has meaning.
It is one place for all my work to accumulate.
Wild Iris is where I have the privilege to adventure and explore with a purpose.
It’s where I can spread the magic of nature to anyone who needs to free their wild.
Wild Iris is where I put my wild, whimsical creations for you to learn from and enjoy.
It’s how I share my deep passion for wildlife through continued research and education.
Wild Iris is my little legacy.
